Christmas is just around the corner. Every year, we celebrate Christmas with our friends and family but do we really know the true meaning of Christmas and what is it all about?

As we know, Jesus, the saviour of the world was born on Christmas Day. He came as a baby, then grew to be a man that gave His life for you and me so we could be saved and live forever with Him when we die. We celebrate his birth or Christmas because of our faith in Him. Jesus came to this world because He loves us and came to deliver the truth in a world of false beliefs. But the main reason He came to earth was to be the final sacrifice for our sins. He died on the cross to wash away our sins. As 1 John 4:14 says “That the Father sent the Son as the Saviour of the world.” God did not send angel nor a good man, the saviour is God who become man. In John 8:12, Jesus spoke “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” The darkness represent sin and judgment. Sin darkens our understanding and ruins our living. We need one that can show us the way to live, as a light in darkness so we shall not stumble. The gospel is associated with light because it shows us our sins and presents the saviour.

Christianity is based on faith, love and hope. We have faith to live in a fallen world where things do not turn out excatly the way we want. Yet we can trust God who is watching us from above and personally cares for our life. We have hope in our life today no matter what happen or may happen in the future. Hope that the life to come is going to be more fulfilling than anything we experienced on earth. And lastly, the Bible teaches us to love one another as God loves us so much. People out there may be living in fear but we, as the children of God live and walk in faith.

Christmas is not only about exchanging gifts. It is the day Jesus came to earth to love us, forgive us and sacrifice for us. We need to remember that He had done so much for us and teaches us so many things so we can be a better person. So, this Christmas, when family gather together, tell them the goodness of God and share the gospel. Have a nice Christmas with your family. (^.^)

The scripture in John 3:16 – 17 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
